Finding your way around

PeoplePit’s layout is simple and consistent: a sidebar on the left for navigation, a top bar for search and personal tools, and the content in between. Because the sidebar is generated from your configuration, your workspace shows your vocabulary — Members, Events, Donations — not generic labels.

  • Every record type an administrator has marked “show in menu” appears in the sidebar with its own icon — clicking it opens that type’s record list.
  • Entries are grouped (Workspace, Insights, Manage); Reports & dashboards and other shared areas live alongside your types.
  • The sidebar collapses to icons — handy on small screens, where it becomes a slide-out drawer.
  • Administrators see a gear leading to the Admin area; regular users don’t.

You only see the types you’re allowed to see — permissions shape the menu itself.

Each type’s landing page is a list of its records: sortable columns, a filter editor, search, paging and bulk actions. Lists are covered in depth in Lists, filters & bulk actions. From a list you can:

  1. Click + New to create a record (opens the create form in a dialog).
  2. Click any row to open the record.
  3. Use Import to load a spreadsheet — see Importing data.

Opening a record shows everything about it in one place:

  • The title — the record’s name and its ID (like P-100012).
  • Fields — laid out by the form an administrator designed for viewing; click Edit to change them.
  • State pills — if the type has a workflow, a colored pill shows the record’s current state, with transition buttons for the steps you’re allowed to take (see Workflows).
  • Related records — connected records grouped by relationship, with buttons to add or remove links.
  • Comments — threaded discussion streams, if the type has comment fields.
  • History — who changed what, and when, including workflow transitions.

The search box in the top bar searches every record you can see — names, IDs and field values across all types. Results appear as you type, with the matching field highlighted; click one to jump straight to the record.

The bell in the top bar collects your in-app notifications — messages from the rules and broadcasts administrators configure (see Notifications & broadcasts). A badge shows your unread count; the popup lists the last few days, and See all opens your full inbox. Clicking a notification usually opens the record it’s about.

  • Theme — toggle between the dark and light theme from the sidebar; your choice is remembered.
  • Language — if your workspace has extra languages configured, a language switcher in the top bar changes yours; the whole app, including your organization’s own field and type names, follows (see Translations). Right-to-left languages are fully supported.
  • Your profile — the user menu in the top bar shows who you’re signed in as and lets you sign out.
